The Mission, The Meaning, & the Message of Jesus Christ Romans Chapter 6      by T. Austin-Sparks                                                                                                             "[Romans] Chapter 6 is not a new chapter, but is the continuation of chapter 5. In chapter 5 all men are dead, which is how God views the human race. 'In Adam all died', and the argument here is that it is the same with Israel. Israel is a part of the human race and is included in this position: 'all are dead'. What is it that we come to immediately we begin to read what is chapter 6? It is a baptism. And what is this baptism? Well, of course, it is the baptism of the Lord Jesus, but what does that mean? Jesus is the representative of the human race. He is the Son of Man. Why must He be baptized? That is, why must He die and be buried? Because He is taking the place of the whole human race. The Cross of the Lord Jesus is a demonstration of the fact that all

Gone, But Not Forgotten

Gone, But Not Forgotten                                                      by Danny C. Wash Dear friend, old friend, as I see you laid out there unmoving, unknowing in death, my heart breaks. People say, “well he is gone to a better place” and is that supposed to comfort us. The sadness of the loss of your life, your friendship, your joy, your love, your confidence, your smile and laugh, is still there. You may be in a better place, but we sure aren’t. We wish you were here to help us through this. We need your special ability to comfort our deep anguish. We will not see you again, shake your hand, embrace you, and say to you, “how are you doing” and enjoy your answer; “never better,” as you give us that familiar wonderful smile that warms our heart and make us feel like everything is fine, since you are here. Death is a thief and cold dirty assassin that kills and steals lives away with no remorse. In the middle of all our living, it suddenly appears and cuts through the middle of e

Ask, Seek, Knock

Image
Ask, Seek, Knock                                                       by Danny C. Wash      “ Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find;  knock, and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks  receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it  shall be opened .” Matthew 7:7-8. As I sat at my desk & wondered what this poem should be about, I decided to follow the verse and “ask” to receive an answer. When, it didn’t come, I decided to seek to see if I could “find.” I decided to seek by reading the next four verses: “ Or what man is there among you, when his son shall ask  him for a loaf will give him a stone .” Now that makes perfect sense.  I am a “son” so I asked for a poem about these verses,  so I wouldn’t expect to get a nursery rhyme about animals. “ Or if he shall ask for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he ?” That’s good news because I don’t like snakes but fish are okay. The verse doesn’t say that I will get a loaf

Father’s Day Fatherly Advice

Father’s Day Fatherly Advice                                          by Danny C. Some are absent because they left for  whatever reason.  Some are absent because they never even showed up. Some people have aching hearts because of this absence for whatever reason it occurred. A father, or father-figure, is important as it influences a child’s view of love, discipline, security, protection, honor, work, morals, selflessness, and of God, the Heavenly Father. Little boys, especially need that father hero example of bravery, leadership, and steadiness. The foundation of their sons being good fathers is laid by the example of the father and the model of how they should treat a woman by how the

Flesh and Bones

Flesh and Bones                by Danny C. Wash                                    Have you ever wondered what Jesus looks like now in Heaven? Does He still have the scars in his hands, feet, & side? After Jesus was resurrected, but before He ascended into Heaven, the disciple Thomas said he wouldn’t believe until he touched the scars. Jesus appeared to him  and said to Thomas, “ Reach here your finger, and see my hands; and reach here your hand, and put it into My side; and be not unbelieving, but believing .”And He said to others, “ Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts ? See My hands and My feet that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have .” When Jesus appeared to the disciples, He showed them His flesh and they could see and feel His bones. Jesus in His resurrection body was doing miraculous acts. Notice that Jesus referred to “flesh and bones” and not “flesh and blood,” as is commonly said.

Guns, Guns, Guns

Guns, Guns, Guns     by Danny C. Wash                                                                           Guns, guns, guns, give us our guns. We love to hold them because it is so fun. We need them to protect me and mine and to give even one up, we must decline. Ban our right to a gun used for war, who the heck do you think you are. We need many more guns because,  what if they were to pass some gun laws. Who are they to limit in any way our right, for amendment number two we will fight We must bow our knee at that altar even though others lives it may falter. Our rights are precious & they must stay no matter the results, let come what may. Wait, the vial of destruction has been released upon our nation and this dark & deadly beast is killing & upon all in this land it may feast. Cry, cry, moan and weep, for the next meal may be us & ours, then how will we feel?  No, say we, “this cannot happen to us  for, we are special and in God we do trust.” That we may do, b

Salvation Explained

Their soul became dominant because of the sinful disobedience of eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, so they now knew they were no longer acceptable to a relationship with God because of sin. In the deepest part of their heart, because of what Satan had put into them, they had a hatred for God and His rule. As rebellious man (a generic term including women) they also desired to be independent from God and to be their own ruler and god.  Just as all of us could be considered to have been in our parents, in a sens

The Glory of God

Image
The Glory of God  by Danny C. Wash      In a dream, an angel appeared and asked me if I wanted to see the glory of God. I said, “ yes, but how can I? ” The angel took me to a hilltop  at midday and told me to look at the sun but I said, “it will blind me if I look at it.” The angel replied, “that is true and so will the glory of God if you were to look directly at it.”   “Then, how can I see God’s glory,” I asked. The angel said, “Look at that green tree  on this hill.” I did and the angel said, “do you see the tree and it’s color?”  I said,  “yes, and it is beautiful.” The angel said, “when you see the tree, you are seeing  the light from the sun reflecting back to your eyes from the tree.” I asked, “but what  does that have to do with God’s glory?” The angel said, “the glory of God can be seen  by looking at Jesus because He said, ‘the one who has seen Me has seen the Father.’       God’s glory is reflected to you as Jesus through your spiritual eyes inside you when  you read ab

Hymn of Praise to Our Lord

Hymn of Praise to Our Lord       by Danny C. Wash                                                                                    Oh Lord, Who is our eternal rock Come in wonderful mercy near and rescue us from all our fear. How can we resist His great love Who came to take our just place and suffer the penalty of the race. He was the perfect eternal lamb for the Passover sacrifice having been found by God without blemish or spot to pay for our sins and bring the devil’s deeds to naught. He was beaten with whips that tore away his skin But much worse was the pain and guilt of our sin He suffered that our souls finally He might win. He was hung upon the cross in shame to shed His blood and sacrifice His life so that all are saved that believe in His name. All our sin in His beaten body in love He did undertake. Our old self was crucified in Him by taking our place and because He became sin as us, God did Jesus forsake. Jesus’ weakened body and heart could no longer bear the loss of
