The Rain Came

The Rain Came

  by Danny C. Wash

O Lord, Thank you for the falling rain.

The birds and the bees the fields and grain

all praise You for the quenching of their thirst

from the terrible inferno of this summer, the worst.

The rumbling thunder announces Your blessing.

The creeks and rivers, the streams and the lakes

are waiting for the water to sooth their dry banks,

as the blessed moisture rolls down from the hills,

where the empty ponds and lakes are waiting to fill.

The burnt plants and brown grass are able to green.

All the inhabitants of this small part of the earth

are happy and grateful for rain and its great worth.

O Lord, Your love for the creation is as great treasure

and Your reign of mercy on us is beyond measure.
