The Body

The Body
     by Danny C. Wash

“The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.....we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit. Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body?.... But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it ....In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary. And the parts we regard as less honorable are those we clothe with the greatest care. So we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen, while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity....If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad,” 1 Corinthians 12: 12-28 (NLT)

As Jesus Christ, the head of His body the
church sits on His throne of mercy
and grace in Heaven, is He pleased with
the parts of His body that perform works
on Earth? Are the ears carefully listening
for the word of the Lord as He speaks to
the body of Christ? The body is dependent
on a clear hearing of His word to inform.
Are the mouths speaking to the body & the
world the words that each hears from the
Lord? How about the hearts? Are they
pumping life to the body strongly and well?
How about eyes? Are they seeing the Lord
as He leads the body as to where He is
directing the body to move? What about
the hands? Are they caring for the needs
of the body and the world? What about
the legs and feet? Are they moving the
body to accomplish its work and tasks?
How about the lungs? Are they breathing
fresh air into the body from the Holy Spirit
to give the life-giving oxygen to the blood?
What about the entire digestive system?
Is it taking in the word of the Lord, properly
digesting it, and distributing its nourishment
to the entire body? And, what about the
nervous system? Is it properly taking the
Lord’s wisdom & words from the Head and
the Holy Spirit and transmitting it to the
remainder of the body according to the
instructions received. All must be doing their
jobs correctly for the body to be alive and healthy.
